The B&B Hotel Ravenna is just a few minutes away from the old city, close to the main roads connecting with the motorway and a few kilometres by road from Romagna's Riviera and its major tourist attractions. It’s perfect for visiting theme parks such as Mirabilandia, which is only a few minutes away, or for spending a weekend out of town and heading for the sea .

History and urbanism

More than once Ravenna was the capital of the Western Roman Empire and then a part of the Most Serene Republic of Venice. Only when visiting the crypt of the Basilica of St Francis, with its floor under water, is it possible to realise that the Crypt, just like a part of the city, is built below the level of the sea. Ravenna’s most famous funerary monument is Dante’s Tomb, next door to the Convent of St Francis.

In Ravenna you’ll find many of the major monuments in the centre of town, which is almost totally pedestrianised. The area around Ravenna is something not to be missed, with its valleys, canals and pine forests overlooking the beaches of Marina Romea, Marina di Ravenna and Punta Marina Terme where the thermal spas are located. There are also many green areas such as the oasis of Punte Alberete, the Comacchio valleys and the Classe pine forest.

Between a piadina flatbread and a plate of tortelli, veritable mainstays of Romagna’s cuisine, there are eight of Ravenna’s monuments that are a part of the UNESCO World Heritage site and that must not be overlooked. These include the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, the Arian Baptistery and the Mausoleum of Theodoric. Fast access to the main roads will allow you to carry out your business engagements without any worries and during your free time you'll be able to get to the most important tourist destinations on Romagna’s Riviera.

Between July and August come and take part in Mosaico di Notte (Mosaic by Night) and experience the magic of Ravenna’s mosaics and major monuments. On 23 July join in with the city’s celebrations for Ravenna's patron, Saint Apollinaris. The month of September is dedicated to Dante, with cultural events, thematic exhibitions and international readings of the Divine Comedy.
