Almost 900,000 inhabitants on an urban network of approximately 130.2 square kilometers. The Piedmontese capital is one of the largest and most populous cities in Italy, as well as one of the most beautiful places to visit in Italy. Fortunately, however, there's no problem with how to get around Turin. Buses, trams, metro lines and other green means of transport will allow you to move from one point of interest to another and, if you choose to stay at our properties, to travel to and from the B&B HOTEL Torino President or the B&B HOTEL Turin. Here are all the alternatives for getting around and visiting the city, whether you arrive in the capital by car, by train or by plane.
The city is dotted with paid parking spaces where you can conveniently leave your car with an hourly rate varying from 1.30 euros to 2.50 euros. Vouchers can be purchased from authorized GTT (Gruppo Torinese Trasporti) resellers and at automatic ticket machines. Watch out for ZTLs (Limited Traffic Zones) where, from 7:30 to 10:30, only cars with a permit can transit. The main pedestrian areas prohibited to vehicles are Via Garibaldi, Via Lagrange and Via Carlo Alberto. The SostApp mobile application can be very useful, **used** for paying the ticket online on blue lines. And speaking of parking: both B&B hotels are hotels with parking indoors, with stops very close to public transport.
You can move between the various points of interest and between the monuments of Turin also thanks to the buses and trams that travel through the city in every direction until late evening. Alternatively, there is the Italian metro that connects Collegno (western area) and Piazza Bengasi (from the south) to the historic center of Turin and to the railway stations of Porta Susa and Porta Nuova.
Certainly convenient because they are not subject to ZTLs, tourist buses pick up passengers in Piazza Castello (in front of Teatro Regio), in Corso Vittorio Emanuele II (Porta Nuova), Piazza Vittorio Veneto and in Viale 1° Maggio. Their parking areas are Lungo Dora Colletta, Via Nievo, Piazza d’Armi; paid stops (4.00 €/hour) in Viale 1° Maggio (Giardini Reali, city center area) and in Viale Boiardi (Torino Esposizioni).
With 175 kilometers of cycle paths, Turin offers three green alternatives to urban mobility: it's easier to park, it doesn't pollute, and it saves money. Those visiting the city on two wheels can use the bike sharing service [TO]Bike, which is active 24/7 and available in over 100 points of the city. Subscription is possible: online or at dedicated offices. Also noteworthy is the Free Floating bicycle service in the city. Ready to ride: get organized on two wheels and perhaps discover what to see in Turin in 3 days.
Since 2019, electric scooters and segways can also circulate in Turin thanks to the Municipality's electric micromobility regulations: the best way to respect the environment. Private companies such as Bird, Circ, Dott, Helbiz, Lime and Link allow you to rent electric scooters to move around the streets and in Turin's parks, among all the Valentino Park in Turin, not far from the Lingotto area, which in turn is adjacent to the Automobile Museum of Turin (MAUTO - managed by four partners: Associazione l’Automobile Club d’Italia, Città di Torino, FCA Fiat Chrysler Automobiles S.A. and Regione Piemonte).
Obviously every neighborhood has a taxi stand. They are much more frequent in the center, in the main squares and near railway stations, but it is also possible to book your rides by phone. As for calls related to disabled transport service, they must be made directly to the Taxi Headquarters.
After so much walking through the city areas, on foot or by any means, it's time to return to your room and enjoy the relaxation that only a room in one of our B&B HOTELS in Turin can offer.
