Rome, the Eternal City, is a true open-air museum, a place where at every corner there's something interesting to admire. On the B&B Hotel website, we suggest what to visit in Rome, revealing tourist itineraries and lesser-known beauties, to make the most of your days in the capital.
The historic center of Rome is a concentration of monuments, true symbols of the city, such as the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and the Imperial Forums. Nearby, you'll also find Piazza Venezia with the Altare della Patria and the Campidoglio, while a short walk easily leads to Piazza Navona and its fountains, the Pantheon, and the places of the dolce vita and shopping, namely the Trevi Fountain, Piazza di Spagna with the Barcaccia fountain and the Spanish Steps, Via del Babuino, and Via Condotti. A more secluded but very evocative itinerary is along the Appia Antica, with the tomb of Cecilia Metella and the villa of Maxentius.

Rome's churches are more than 900, but it is certainly impossible not to visit St. Peter's Basilica, an architectural masterpiece that, with its treasures (one above all, Michelangelo's Pietà), fascinates even non-believers. In the church San Pietro in Vincoli (Saint Peter in Chains) you'll find Michelangelo's famous Moses, while the Basilica of San Clemente is a small gem that transports you through various past eras, with frescoes and mosaics of the "recent" body built on a 4th-century Basilica which, in turn, stands on a pagan temple dating back to the 1st century.
Among the things to see in Rome, there are plenty of museums and art galleries. The Castel Sant’Angelo Museum has a peculiar history; it is, in fact, the tomb of Emperor Hadrian which, over the centuries, has been transformed and used for various purposes up to the present day. The Vatican Museums, rich in works of art and including the Sistine Chapel, are the destination for millions of tourists, as is the Borghese Gallery where works by Caravaggio, Raphael, Titian, Correggio, and sculptures by Bernini and Canova are exhibited. This gallery is located within the park that also includes the splendid panoramic terrace of the Pincio, which overlooks Piazza del Popolo and from which you can admire all of Rome.
