Here are our tips for a 2-3 day vacation in Italy:
Northern Italy offers many travel ideas, even for a weekend. Liguria and the Cinque Terre, the wonderful landscapes of Trentino-Alto Adige, the towns of Piedmont fascinate visitors, as do many of the main Italian cities. Milan, for example, is a metropolis that has nothing to envy to the most famous European cities. A Milanese weekend allows you to discover monuments and works of art of considerable importance (above all the Duomo, the Sforzesco Castle with its museums and the Rondanini Pietà, and the Last Supper), as well as indulge in shopping or walks along the Navigli canals.
Venice, on the other hand, is obviously a perfect destination for a romantic weekend. Walking hand in hand in the calli or in St. Mark's Square in the evening, taking a gondola ride, dining by candlelight... in Venice, it's a special emotion. Furthermore, near Venice is Verona, with the places of the world's most famous lovers, Juliet and Romeo.
Emilia Romagna is perfect for a weekend dedicated to culture (Ravenna with its mosaics, Bologna with Piazza Grande), good food, and fun by the sea. The beaches of Rimini and Riccione, the nightclubs, and the trattorias with the many delights of Emilian-Romagnol cuisine guarantee a short but intense weekend. Finally, among the places to visit in Italy, one cannot overlook Turin. The Mole Antonelliana with the Cinema Museum, the Egyptian Museum with its avant-garde installations, and all the best monuments, the Valentino Park which transports the visitor directly to the Middle Ages, and all the most beautiful parks to see in Turin, not to mention the historic center are just some of the city's wonders. Florence is the ideal destination for spending a few days without missing any of the city's beauties. Palazzo Vecchio, the Basilica of Santa Croce, the Uffizi Gallery, and Ponte Vecchio (very romantic at sunset) are, in fact, quite close to each other, and therefore can be visited without losing too much time traveling.
Rome, too, is a treasure chest of wonders. A weekend, however, is sufficient to visit the UNESCO World Heritage historic center, with the Colosseum, the Forums, the Capitoline Hill, and the Altar of the Fatherland. The subway allows for a quick trip to Trastevere, to walk along the Tiber river and see the Tiber Island, or to Villa Borghese, to admire the Gallery and observe the city from the Pincio terrace.
Naples is an ideal destination for a weekend; the lively historic center with its palaces and the mild climate allow for a pleasant mini-vacation. Our beautiful Italy has an almost infinite list of small villages to visit at least once in a lifetime. The historic towns with the ancient soul of Sicily, the rich Tuscan artistic heritage, and the wonders of Abruzzo await you, to visit Italy from top to bottom.
