City tax

Accommodation Tax and Guest Contribution of the City of Cuxhaven

The city of Cuxhaven levies a so-called accommodation tax and a guest contribution for overnight guests.
The amount of the accommodation tax is determined by the city of Cuxhaven and is 2.75% of the gross accommodation price. Business travelers are not affected by this tax. Appropriate proof of the commercial purpose of the overnight stay must be provided by the guest before check-in or when payment is due.

Furthermore, the city of Cuxhaven levies a guest contribution of €3.20 during Season A and €2.80 during Season B per person per day. The guest contribution must be paid on-site at the hotel by all persons aged 16 and over who use the spa facilities. Exempt from the contribution requirement are severely disabled persons and their companions, as well as relatives of persons with their primary residence in Cuxhaven. The hotel is required to forward the collected fees to the city of Cuxhaven based on the guest's documentation.
