Personal agradable y dispuesto, llegué muy tarde por la noche pero checking fue sencillo y rápido. El desayuno ofrecido es super variado y abundante. Silencio en los pasillos gracias a la moqueta que amortigua los pasos.

Vigo , one of the most important fishing cities in Spain.

Vigo is one of the most important fishing cities in Spain. Ships leave the harbour constantly to ply the Atlantic in search of a new catch. For visitors, this means that their hotels in Vigo are the door to a unique culinary experience in this seaside Galician town, which also boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

Islas Cíes: Spain’s best-kept secrets

Usually, when you hear about white sand beaches and sparkling blue waves, your thoughts turn to the Caribbean, or perhaps the Adriatic. But here on Spain’s Atlantic coasts, the Islas Cíes boast beaches that are reputed to be some of the world’s best. A 45-minute ferry ride takes you from your Vigo hotel to these well-appointed beaches. The islands also boast a bird sanctuary with a wealth of migratory birds.

Closer to town, beaches such as Samil beach offer convenient, family-friendly seaside escapes. It boasts gorgeous views of the Islas Cíes in the distance, as well as a seaside promenade. Vigo enjoys a wide selection of beaches, with over 40 in the city’s surroundings.

A unique seafood experience right by your Vigo hotel

Vigo’s avenues are ideal for strolling during the day and discovering the many delicious restaurants the city has to offer. The Praza da Constitución is a good starting point, with arcaded squares and quaint cafés and bars. For the true Vigo seafood experience, head down the Rúa Pescadería and look for ostreras, oyster-sellers. Buy a plate from the vendors and walk into a nearby restaurant where you’ll be able to pair your catch with one of the fine wines of the region.

If seafood isn’t your thing, worry not – when you book your Vigo hotel, you’ll be heading to a region famous for its meat and wine as well. Galician beef is famous enough that it is recognised by two denominations of origin, while the terroirs of the region produce the light Albariño wines, among others.

Exploring the old town, Bouzas & Baiona and the Camino de Santiago

While you’re in your Vigo hotel, take some time to explore the city. The hilltop Castelo de Castro is a lovely place to see the sun set over the ocean, or just to go for a stroll, and the Museo de Arte Contemporánea is the centre of a thriving local modern art scene. While you’re here, make sure to walk through fishing neighbourhoods such as El Berbés and Ribera del Berbés to sample some of the local fare.

South of the Vigo estuary is Baiona: the first town in the world that knew of the discovery of America. Throughout the Val Miñor area, you’ll find magnificent beaches. One of Vigo’s neighbourhoods is Bouzas. It is essential for seafaring in Vigo and you will find an extraordinary promenade and food around every corner. Why not stop by for some tapas? Not far from Vigo is Santiago de Compostela and therefore if you are coming from the south or east of Vigo, the Camino de Santiago will also stop in Vigo.

If you’re dreaming of white sand beaches or salivating at the thought of oysters, why not check out Vigo hotel deals with B&B Hotels today? Your Galician adventure awaits!
