Ein sehr schönes und gelungenes Wochenende in Köln im verkehrgünstig mit S-Bahn-Anbindung gelegenen B&B-Hotel für Stadtbesuch und -Bummel sowie Schiffstour bei den Kölner Lichtern.

Tolles Hotel, sehr nette Mitarbeiter, äußerst freche Messepreise
Unterm Strich ist das B&B Hotel Messe Köln aus meiner Sicht empfehlenswert. Positives: Das Hotel ist modern, bestens zur Messe und zu Haltestellen der öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel gelegen und unkompliziert buchbar. Den Mitarbeitern vor Ort gebührt das größte Lob. Alle sind wirklich äußerst nett, immer freundlich lächelnd und durchgehend sehr hilfsbereit. Die Klimaanlage im Zimmer ist ein Segen, auch wenn sie etwas leiser sein könnte. Das Bad ist gut bemessen, auch in der Duschkabine ist ausreichend Platz. Das Frühstück ist für diese Hotelkategorie völlig i.O. (Brot, Brötchen, Müsli, Marmelade, Wurst, Käse, Butter, gekochte Eier, Kaffee in zahlreichen Arten, Milch, Fruchtsäfte, Obst, usw.). Frische Brötchen von einem Bäcker würde ich aber dennoch bevorzugen. Negatives: Die Parkplatzsituation ist fürchterlich. Es lässt sich auf dem Hotelparkplatz kein Parkplatz vorab für die Dauer des Aufenthaltes buchen. Vielleicht gibt es vor Ort einen (kostenpflichtigen) Parkplatz, vielleicht auch nicht. Und das entscheidet sich jeden Tag neu. Wenn man einen eventuell ergatterten Platz wieder verlässt, kann man davon ausgehen, dass er sehr kurzfristig sofort belegt wird und man keinen Platz mehr findet. Im Umfeld des Hotels gibt es nicht wirklich öffentliche Parkplätze. Die 5 an der Zufahrtstraße sind i.d.R. ebenfalls besetzt. Die im Wendehammer auf dem Gehweg abgestellten Autos hatten recht schnell Tickets vom Ordnungsamt an der Scheibe. Wenn man aber einen Stellplatz auf dem hoteleigenen Parkplatz hat, kostet dieser 10€ am Tag, was preislich völlig i.O. ist. Die Zimmerpreise des Hotels zur Messezeit (gamescom) sind jedoch unfassbar und eine echte Frechheit. Mir ist bewusst, dass zu Messen und ähnlichen Events in Köln die Preise angehoben werden, obwohl die Qualität gleichbleibend ist; soweit so gut. Was aber B&B hier aufruft, ist jenseits meines Verständnisses. Eine Preissteigerung von ca.+250% (also ca.350€/Nacht statt ca.100€/Nacht) bei gleicher Qualität und gleichem Service grenzt m.E. an moderner Piraterie. Und da gibt es auch nichts schön zu reden. Fazit: Grundsätzlich kann ich das Hotel empfehlen, sofern man mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln anreisen kann und die Gelegenheit hat, zu normalen und fairen Preisen buchen zu können. Ich persönlich werde mich für meinen nächsten Aufenthalt in Köln wohl nach einem anderen Hotel umsehen, da ich insbesondere die Preisgestaltung von B&B zur Messezeit nicht akzeptieren möchte.

Gut gelegenes Hotel für Besuch von Innenstadt und Konzerten
Hotel verkehrsgünstig gelegen, Bahnhof, Innenstadt und Lanxess-Arena gut zu erreichen. Hotelzimmer etwas klein und eher spartanisch eingerichtet, kein Kleiderschrank. Positiv zu erwähnen ist die individuell regulierbare Klimaanlage

Wir haben drei Tage übernachtet. Das Hotel liegt gut, der Weg in die Stadt ist nicht weit. Die Zimmer sind ausreichend wie auch das Frühstück. Es gibt für jeden etwas. Wir würden wieder dort übernachten.

From Frankfurt A3 to Dreieck Heumar (15) on the A4 towards Aachen, exit Kreuz Gremberg on the A559 towards Köln-Deutz to the end of the autobahn, turn right onto Deutz-Kalker Str., after about 150 m turn left onto Gummersbacher Str., after about 400 m the hotel on the right.
