Pescara, the capital of Abruzzo, is one of the main cities in central Italy, a sought-after tourist destination both in summer for its fantastic promenade overlooking the Adriatic, and in winter, thanks to its numerous historic buildings and museums to visit and admire. To conveniently visit the city, you can stay in our B&B Hotel in Pescara, located right in the center, perfect for admiring all its beauties.
As the name suggests, the Gabriele d’Annunzio Birthplace Museum comes to life inside the house where Gabriele d’Annunzio, a symbolic poet of Italian Decadentism, was born. Inside the building, there is a museum where each room of the house is furnished with original furniture and objects that belonged to the writer and his family, useful for tracing the personal history of the Pescara literary figure.
During the Second World War, Pescara was heavily bombed, and some structures and historic buildings in the old city also paid the price, such as the Littorio Bridge, completely destroyed, and the San Cetteo Cathedral, commissioned and financed by D'Annunzio and home to the poet's mother's tomb, whose facade was totally rebuilt following the damage suffered. After a tour of the city center, cathedrals, and museums, we recommend stopping at one of the restaurants in the area and tasting the typical dishes of Abruzzese cuisine.
One of the main attractions to visit in Pescara is the Ponte del Mare, defined as the "city's balcony." It is a recently built cycle-pedestrian structure that allows you to reach the two opposite rivieras of the Aterno-Pescara river and enjoy a breathtaking panorama offered by the tourist port, the long and wide beaches, and the view of the sea and sky that seem to merge on the horizon.
