Which museums to visit in Albacete?

Albacete, apart from being one of the main references of La Mancha, is also a city that houses museums of different types. From the arts to other specialties, this great city of Castilla La Mancha offers a very wide cultural offer. Therefore, we are going to take a brief tour of each museum in Albacete that you cannot miss.

The most famous

To speak of Albacete is to speak, in many cases, of the culture of cutlery. The city is a benchmark in Spain in the manufacture of knives and knives, which is why there is the cutlery museum, located inside the beautiful Casa del Hortelano, a small palace that has a most picturesque 19th-century facade. All this makes this museum a true institution in the city with an interior in which to take a journey through the history of the trade.

In the old Town Hall building there are two famous museums in the city. On the one hand, there is the area where we can enjoy temporary exhibitions of fine arts. On the other hand, and on another floor, the International Museum of Popular Art of the World is located in the same building with several exhibition halls that offer a historical and cultural journey that covers the different cultures of the planet. In addition, it is a public museum and admission is free.

In the famous Abelardo Sánchez park is the museum of the province of Albacete, called the Museum of Albacete. Here, we can enjoy a collection full of history, as it ranges from archaeological finds found in the city in the Paleolithic, through Roman times and to the Middle Ages, from the different towns in the province. In addition, in another of the rooms, we can visit an exhibition of Fine Arts full of works.

In the province of La Mancha, which is part of the communities of Castilla, there is also the Museo del Niño (Children's Museum), which is a tribute to childhood and families, highlighting its recreation of the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Of course, although admission is free, it is only accessible if we have a guided tour. But, it is one of the most endearing experiences to be had in the area.

Finally, more than a museum, the city also houses the Center for Interpretation and Awareness for Peace, located inside one of the national Civil War air-raid shelters. The site is already historic due to its location, but it goes much further by trying to reflect the horrors of war through the use of photographs and other elements.
