Vejle: Much to see, much to experience

You'll find Vejle in the southern part of Denmark on the country's east coast. The historic landmark greets you from afar: a windmill on a hill in the south of the city. Vejle's reputation for eye-catching architecture is also evident in the Fjordenhus, with its iconic vaulted design. The building by the Danish-Icelandic artist Ólafur Elíasson rises strikingly out of the harbour basin. Some of the city's numerous museums are also of captivating architectural appeal, such as the Culture Museum in the old spinning mill halls or the Merchants' Museum in the former Bindeballe trading house. Also exciting is a visit to the Vejle Art Museum or the interactive knowledge and experience centre Økolariet.

The landscape surrounding the town is particularly charming. Vejle lies directly at the end of the fjord of the same name. It enchants with its beautiful coastline and fine sandy beaches. The river Vejle, which flows into the fjord here, has an idyllic charm. Its river valley with lakes invites you to excursions, nature experiences and fishing. Enjoy kayaking on the water or hiking and cycling tours with beautiful views over the fjord and lakes. Golf courses, climbing parks and the castle's fairytale park complete the picturesque scenic ambience.

Explore great sights such as the rune stones of Jelling, which together with the burial mounds are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The site was built in the tenth century by Viking leader Harald Blauzahn. In the adjacent Kongernes Jelling experience centre you can learn interesting facts about Denmark's history. Further south you will reach the Tørskind Sculpture Park. The fascinating works of steel, granite and wood are artistically embedded in the vegetation of the former gravel pit.
