The Dutch Quarter, often known as "Little Amsterdam", makes visitors feel like they have somehow been beamed straight to Holland. It’s the only all-Dutch community outside of the Netherlands. The Dutch Quarter, with its cafés, cosy pubs and galleries, is the place to go for a pleasant outing. Traditionally the tulip festival takes place in spring. During Advent the Dutch "Sinterklaasfest" Christmas market is well worth taking a trip for.

The New Palace, which was completed in 1769, is on the western side of Sanssouci Park in Potsdam. You can spot the palace from a long distance away due to its tall tambour cupola. There is much for visitors to see inside the palace. Among others you can see lavishly decorated and furnished apartments, galleries and magnificent banqueting halls. In the south wing of the palace you’ll find the Baroque palace theatre. In the 18th century it was used to exhibit exquisite historical works of art. 

Nauen Gate is one of Potsdam’s best-known tourist attractions. It is one of Potsdam’s three remaining city gates and you’ll find it in the northern part of the city. The restaurants inside the Nauen Gate will make you want to go in for a visit and a nice lunch. 

The Old City Hall comes with its very own diverse history. It is thought that Potsdam City Hall already stood on this spot back in the Middle Ages. The City Hall took on its current appearance in around 1750. In the 1800s the City Hall housed a prison, among others, but after a few years it was transferred to the neighbouring palace. After World War Two the City Hall was rebuilt, and it is now used as an exhibition venue.

The palace is on the around 76 metre-high Pfingsberg mount, and offers a unique view. You can see not only the area around Potsdam, but also as far as Berlin. It’s well worth taking a walk in the adjacent park, and a look around the palace. The romantic palace with lookout is also a really special venue for private functions. 

The Nikolai Church on the Old Market is held to be one of the most significant buildings in Potsdam city centre, where it stands as a landmark. It is a listed building and its history can be traced back to the 13th century. The central part, in classicist style, was built between 1830 and 1837 to the plans of Karl Friedrich Schinkel. Today the church is a venue for an array of concerts and miscellaneous events.

In the former city palace you’ll find Germany’s oldest film museum. In the attractive Baroque building you’ll find a cinema offering several screenings daily. The permanent exhibition "Dream factory - 100 years of cinema in Babelsberg" and varying exhibitions will make you want to visit. 

Potsdam’s Sanssouci Palace is known far beyond Germany and attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world every year. Not only the palace, but also the extensive gardens are well worth the visit! Frederick the Great commissioned the architect Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff for the design of the Rococo-style palace, which was built between 1745 and 1747. In summer the palace is open between 10:00 and 18:00. In winter it is open between 10:00 and 17:00. Please note that the number of admission tickets sold each day is limited. So it’s best to book ahead!
