You will find the Hanseatic city’s second B&B Hotel in Harburg - a district south of the Elbe river. Harburg is particularly known for its large inland port. This includes the ‘Hamburg Channel’, Hamburg’s southern high-tech district, and the Harburg ‘Schloßinsel’ where you can find the borough’s oldest building. Every year, Hamburg celebrates its inland port festival. A lively programme takes place over 3 days with entertainment on water and land.

Location

The B&B Hotel Hamburg-Harburg is located between the east and west ‘Bahnhof’ canals. Hamburg-Harburg train station is just a few minutes away. Hamburg’s city centre is about a 15-minute drive away, or a 30-minute trip by public transport.

Facilities

This well-equipped, modern hotel has single and double rooms, as well as family rooms for three or four people. Rooms on upper floors can be accessed by lift. All rooms are air-conditioned and fitted with soundproofed windows. There is also a flat-screen TV and desk in every room. Bathrooms are fitted with a shower, toilet, hair dryer and wash basin.

Power Outage, Disturbance, and Unacceptable Staff Conduct

The consequences of being without electricity in a hotel room in 2026 are self-evident. As a direct result of this failure, our stay and our onward travel plans were effectively ruined. Upon arrival last night, we discovered that there was no electricity in the room. No lights, no functioning outlets. After unsuccessfully trying to reach the hotel by phone, we sent an email last night immediately upon arrival to report the issue and file a complaint. This morning at 06:20, the entire family was abruptly awakened when the electricity suddenly came back on and the room was fully illuminated. This caused a significantly earlier and unplanned wake-up, which naturally affected our schedule and plans for the day. When I went to the reception to raise these issues, I was met by a receptionist whose appearance was unprofessional and who spoke very limited English. He claimed that the email we sent last night did not exist, despite the fact that I can prove it was sent. His attitude was dismissive and nonchalant. As a response, he handed us a business card with the same email address to which we had already sent our complaint the previous evening. Taken together, this reflects a complete lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic service standards. This is without exaggeration one of the worst hotel experiences I have had in my life.

Directions to Hamburg-Harburg

By car:

A1 (from North/South): Take exit HH-Harburg (in the direction of Harburg) onto Neuländer Straße Street and, after 2 km, turn left (in the direction of the B73/Cuxhaven) on Hannoversche Straße Street. After 750 metres, turn right onto Theodor-Yorck-Straße Street and B&B Hotel Hamburg-Harburg is directly on the left-hand side.

B73 (from Cuxhaven): Turn right before the Seehafenbrücke Bridge (following “Richtung Hafen Harburg") and follow the loop over the Seehafenbrücke Bridge, then turn right (towards Elbbrücken). This becomes "Karnapp" and Theodor-Yorck-Straße Street is on the left, then the hotel is on the left at the junction.

Bus/train:

Take the S3 train (in the direction of Hamburg/Neugraben) or the S31 (in the direction of Hamburg-Harburg Rathaus) towards Hamburg Hauptbahnhof Station or Hamburg-Harburg to "Hamburg-Harburg Rathaus". From here, the hotel is 500 metres away on foot. Take a left (in the direction of the south-east) along the Harburger Ring, then left towards “Am Wall”. Turn right onto Hans-Fitze-Strasse Street and cross the bridge over the B73. On the left, diagonally opposite, is Theodor-Yorck-Strasse Street.

City tax

Since the 1st of January 2013, the city of Hamburg has levied a culture and tourist tax on overnight stays in the Hanseatic city. The tax applies to visitors who are staying in Hamburg as a private guest. Business travellers are not affected. As a business traveller, please provide the reason for your stay together with a letter from your employer upon arrival (a template can be downloaded from the City of Hamburg website). If you’d like to make use of online check-in, please send the completed form by email before you complete online check-in and payment. The hotel is obliged to forward the collected taxes to the city of Hamburg’s Office for Traffic Taxes and Property, on the basis of the employer forms submitted by guests.

Please note that as from 01.01.2023 the cultural and touristic tax will be also levied for business travelers.
