Augsburg Town Hall
Augsburg Town Hall is one of the most impressive in Germany. Built in the Renaissance period, the Golden Hall in particular impresses with its magnificent wall paintings and lavish gold decorations. On the coffered ceiling, carved from walnut, is the 24-square-metre painting of the Sapientia, which is surrounded by two other large round pictures. When Elias Holl completed the town hall in 1624, since it was the only building in the world with more than six floors, it was considered a pioneering achievement. This achievement has long been surpassed but a visit to the town hall is definitely a must when visiting Augsburg!
