Frankfurt's Old Town
Frankfurt’s Old Town is home to three of the city’s best-known and historically significant attractions: the St. Bartholomew Kaiserdom, the Römerberg and the Paulskirche. Between the 16th and the 18th centuries, the Kaiserdom was where the German Kaisers were crowned. The Römerberg with the Frankfurt Town Hall - named the Römer - and the old Nikolaikirche form the heart of the Old Town. Since the 9th century, the Römerberg has been the scene of many important events. The Paulskirche is regarded as the cradle of German democracy. The National Assembly met here and created Germany’s first democratic constitution.
