History and urbanism

Capital of its region, this city houses many districts that will take you back into history. To take a leap back to the Middle Ages, take a stroll through the Saint-Pierre quarter. But did you know that Bordeaux’s history goes back even further? The Romans were the first to plant vineyards here! The Place Royale and the Grand Théâtre will transport you straight to the 18th century when the city was France’s leading port. Today, the city is visibly being transformed along the length of its famous tramway. Now the districts around the Bastide and the football stadium are changing rapidly !

Stroll

Walking along the banks of the Garonne, taking part in a wine tasting in a cellar, taking a stroll to historical Sainte-Croix or a spot of shopping in Rue Sainte-Catherine…. There’s no shortage of ideas for visits during your family or  business tourism weekend in Bordeaux

Heritage

Bordeaux is like an open-air museum. The Grand Théâtre,  Saint-André Cathedral, the Place Royale, the Girondins monument and the Port de la Lune are all outstanding places, well worth a visit. Not forgetting the magnificent museums such as the Musée d’Aquitaine, one of the largest outside Paris !

Festivities

The city has a buzz and wants to share it with you! Notable events include “Bordeaux fête son vin” in June, celebrating the local wine or put your brain to work at the Science Festival (in September). All year round you can join in with a festival or an event during your stay in Bordeaux
